Editorial Review:James Patterson inaugurates a new crime series with the impressively complex First to Die: the Women's Murder Club, a group of San Francisco professionals--a homicide cop, an assistant district attorney, a pathologist and a reporter--share their information and thinking on cases. Someone is killing honeymoon couples on their first night together and nothing that we know about the killer is, we realise, entirely reliable: the connections between the victims are tenuous and the killer's method varies significantly. Intelligent, sensitive, tough cop Lindsay Boxer has problems of her own--a potentially fatal blood condition and a suspicion that she is falling for the intelligent divorced spin-doctor forced on her as partner by a publicity-conscious city government. The conversations she has with her friends are partly a matter of looking again at the results of legwork--sometimes explaining something to people who do not share your automatic assumptions makes you look at it again--and partly a matter of sharing expertise; rapidly they realise that they are up against someone for whom murder is a sexual game. Patterson has always had an eye for the psychology of killers--here he adds empathy for those to whom caring about victims is a way of life. --Roz Kaveney Reader Reviews:Gripping Plot ! (0/0 people found this helpful)I recently read this book as part of a task set in my English group. I found it very enjoyable and I couldn't wait to read further into the story as the murders continued. I didn't give this 5 stars because there were some things I did not like about the book. The fact that the main character gets a disease is quite sad and also when the person she falls in love with gets shot, I felt that maybe he should have made some kind of recovery? Nothing seems to go well for the main character as the story goes on. I found the twist with the real killer being a woman quite a suprise, however the fact that she dressed up as a man to commit the murders I found that quite unrealistic/unbelievable that someone would really do that. The ending was really good though as I wasn't expecting it. It's a good first installment to what I hope is a great series as I can't wait to read the next one! Great Read (0/0 people found this helpful)I've read a lot of James Patterson's novels now and was looking forward to read this. It's his first novel in a series called "The Women's Murder Club".
Absolubtly Amazing! I could not sleep untill I had finished this book! (0/0 people found this helpful)Amazing!... i am totally hooked on James Patterson's books!
Predictable American slush (2/4 people found this helpful)I am astounded that anyone can enjoy this sort of rubbish. Patterson chucks these books out at an incredible rate to make afew more bucks. I am sure he can write but does he need to when this sells? High five for the ladies! (0/2 people found this helpful)I started this book slighly confused by thinking who is the the homicide cop, the assistant district attorney, the pathologist and the reporter.
