We bought this book for a trip into the southern Peru and the rainforest and we got virtually no use out of it. We saw so many types of bird that were not listed that we gave up with it in the end. Looking was not easy as there were so many colour coded categories it was difficult to tell them apart. The lack of distribution maps was a real problem, the narrative description of distribution was much less user-friendly for someone without a good knowledge of the geography, and it took up much of the space, meaning that the other information was minimal.
