Reader Reviews:For satisfying fine-tuning (16/17 people found this helpful)Dr. Seger has followed up her book "Making a Good Script Great" with this invaluable publication that will allow any seasoned writer or serious novice to add the necessary depth and dimension to a good story. She deals with a lot of theory behind the mechanics of story telling by making the writer ask fundemental questions and then leading him/her through the various thought and planning processes entailed in improving story quality. A lot of the tips would never occur to most writers but they make perfect sense and it makes re-writing more fulfilling than the actual writing itself. However, as the title suggests, this book alone will not be enough to embark on your first story not having studies other books first. Also, due to its theoretic nature (especially about themes, images, etc.) there are few examples of screenplays written out. I wish I had had this in my hand when I finished my first attempt.
