Reader Reviews:Simply Delicious (7/7 people found this helpful)I love the way his recipes are simple yet soooo tasty. I especially like the way he standardises the quantities in a recipe, for example a standard pack of meat, one onion and a can of tomatoes makes a delicious Bolognese. Who wants to faff around with a pack and a half, one and and two quarters or a can and a bit!!! Good buy, go for it! Well done Ainsley! (7/8 people found this helpful)Well done, Ainsley! I think Ainsley Harriott did a wonerful job with this Gourmet Express 2: the recipes are clear, simple and most of the ingredients are easy to obtain. And if they you can't find them you can always use something else... I can't wait to try new recipes. They are simple but always special and the best thing is that they really are very quick to make. Some require a longer cooking in the oven, maybe, but you can always do something else while they get ready. Really well done! I'm definitely going to buy the first one as well! Imaginative recipes and very easy to follow (8/11 people found this helpful)Despite being regarded as a'good cook' I'm always loking for new, interesting but straightforward recipes. A major criticism of most recipe books is that they are extremely difficult to follow or it's easy to lose your place; this book has really addressed that. It is well laid-out with numbered step by step instructions. Brilliant! Another great title from Ainsley! (30/30 people found this helpful)This is a fantastic book. The recipes are quick and easy to follow and the food is exciting and fresh ... modern bistro cookery, if you know what I mean! I have cooked several things from this book and would recommend it to anyone who works full time but loves good food ... lovely food within half an hour of getting home! Great stuff ... Easy foolproof recipes scattered with excellent photos (28/30 people found this helpful)Got the book on Wednesday, entertained with it on Thursday when an excellent meal was had by all. Fool proof recipes for dishes with mostly easily obtainable ingredients (bearing in mind I live in Orkney where some of the more exotic ingredients are hard to come by). The recipes themselves are easy to follow, and don't use fancy techniques. I like to be able to see what the finished result should look like, and this book has an abundance of wonderful photos. I made the baked hedgehog tatties but used french bread stick instead of the baked potato, added a few ingredients to the dressing, then served up as a starter - worked well. The six minute soft centred chocolate puddings where to die for. I have tried this recipe from other books and have had many disasters. This recipe if followed to the "t" works a treat. Invest in a chicken brick and try the superb lemon herb chicken - there was not a picking left on the carcass. All in all a user-friendly, well presented, useable cookbook. Go buy and get cooking.
