Reader Reviews:A wonderful look at the main religions of the world (0/0 people found this helpful)I loved this colourful, well-presented 'lift-the-flap' book for 4 to 7 year olds. It looks at the major world religions in a balanced way showing some similarities between them and the important aspects of each one. There is a poster at the back with the main festivals of each religion. Subsequently it promotes understanding and tolerance of religion amongst little ones. This would be an excellent book in any home or classroom. All Kinds of Beliefs... Except Non-Believers! (4/4 people found this helpful)This book looks at 6 groups: Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jew, Hindu and Buddhist. The words (easy to read) and pictures are superb - the opening page showing a park full of people is fantastic... only when you look behind the bushes do the 'symbols' appear over each person's head. A superb way of introducing children to the concepts of our mixed society. Well, provided our society falls into one of the above groups, that is!
MUST HAVE (9/9 people found this helpful)I was recommended to buy this book from a friend who is a teacher for 4 year olds and I have to say that it's one of the best books I have bought for a long time. I have a 3 year old son who now after reading this book (repeatedly) can remember the 5 main religions and their symbols and what goes on in each place of worship. That just goes to show how simple but yet so appealing this book is. The world is the way it is today because of ignorance and by using simple tools like this book to educate our young ones is very important to their future. It's fantastically illustrated and intriguing to whoever picks up this book. A lovely book (10/10 people found this helpful)I bought this for my childminder to help her tick her multi-cultural box for Ofsted, but ended up buying one for my home as well as it is such a lovely book. An excellent celebration of different religions with a variety of pop ups and flaps makes this a book suitable for a wide age range. I highly recommend it to teachers, parents and childcarers everywhere as a tool to help teach respect, understanding and tolerance. (From a non-believer!) A great celebration of religious differences (49/49 people found this helpful)This book "fills a gap." It is an excellent foundation book for teaching children to celebrate the rich heritage of religious differences and their cultural connections. The "pop up" feature reinforces the notion that you cannot understand the inner workings of others by simply looking at their exterior. The beautiful art, basic information and excellent production make it a "must" for every home, school, church, temple, mosque and library. The book even make a point of affirming that there is integrity for those who choose not to identify with a major religious tradition. If all religious leaders were to read and absorb this book, the world would be a much healthier and more joyful place. Similar ProductsAll Kinds of People: A Lift-the-Flap Book (All Kinds Of...)
