Reader Reviews:Irish mumming plays (0/0 people found this helpful)A pleasant look at mumming customs in Ireland in an easy-to read rather than scholarly presentation. This book would be appreciated by enthusiasts of Irish folk culture or anyone interested in Christmas traditions. The mumming play is common to parts of Britain as well and here we have an interesting Irish variation, even if the book is confined to just one area of Ireland. The author has a reasonably good understanding of Irish folk customs yet unfortunately from the pages I could not discern the same degree of expertise that is evident in his work on Turkish folk art. Despite the odd minor error, it is worth the price. CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
