Reader Reviews:Simply the best witness (1/1 people found this helpful)Here we have a book which should be part of every school curriculum.
Simply remarkable (1/1 people found this helpful)Leon is a remarkable man whose story is extraordinary and a testimony to his amazing strength of character and spirit. Leon has made it his life's work to educate people about the horrors of the Holocaust and continues to this day (aged 97!) to do so, and to speak out against prejudice and nazism. Buy his book and read his story, like Leon himself, it is unique. must read (3/4 people found this helpful)i havnt yet read the book, but Leon came into my school in a visit, and i think everyone should here what he has gone through and here his advice. A powerful & disturbing story. A wonderful man, but a harrowing story to tell... (8/9 people found this helpful)I read, and eventually bought this book after Leon spoke to my school sixth-form. It tells the story of the plight of so many jewish victims of the hideous persecution of the German Concentration camps. Leon's personal story is one of huge sadness but one that everyone should know about. Everyone should buy this book, and if you do get the chance to speak to this wonderful, elderly man, take the oppurtunity. i have had the pleasure of meeting him (12/14 people found this helpful)the day before writing this book, i had the honour of meeting this fantastic gentleman on a school vsot. he spoke to us for 2 hours about his story, such an emotional one at that. leon (as he wished us to call him) explained that he had to find out in books after the war the fate of wife esther and son barney, this was shoking. his life at various camps was hard, living off no food nor water or anything for years occasionally he got raw potato skins to eat, yet how these people survived years of this beats me. it was disgusting to see that only 8years ago when leon was 83, he received a death threat from a neo nazi. this book should be read by all, it captures the true events, things people could not possibly imagine.read it, you have no idea about the holocaust until you have read it Similar ProductsEyewitness Auschwitz: Three Years in the Gas Chamber The Children of Belsen CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
