This is one of my favorite books; one of the few which I keep on a special shelf with books that I re-read every few years or so. And with every reading, I discover something new.
Jacques Lusseyran is a fascinating person and his insights into life are profoundly moving. He became blind after an accident at the age of eight. His blindness, although at times inconvenient, was never a handicap, because it enabled him to develop exceptional spiritual and psychic capacities at a very young age. He discovered that he could "see" people and things but without using his eyes. He could also "see" the moral qualities of people, and often their hidden motivations and even their thoughts.
The book recounts his life and his adventures as a founder of an important French resistance group.
I strongly recommend this book.

This is the faszinating tale of a blind man who has survived the horrors of the concentration camp buchenwald under the nazis. But that is only a sideline, a few dozen pages in this wonderfull autobiographie. It is about hope, enlightment and about the love of life!
The author is sometimes a bit too phantastic, but if one can overlook that, it is one of the most captivating books I've read in years as it describes the world through "the eyes" of a blind person - and there is so much to discover and to learn.
