Excellent Overview (0/0 people found this helpful)

Anything associated with the Imperial War Museum is usually top drawer and this account of the British Army in the last 100 years is no exception. Technically, the book covers more than just 100 years as it begins with the Second Boer War and ends with the current operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Covering such a vast amount of history in 275 pages, you can expect some generalizations and high-level detail. My one criticism is that the authors gave certain wars some background while they dispensed with it for others. The general tone of the book is well-suited for the average reader; military historians will enjoy the excellent selection of photos and the eyewitness accounts from veterans of the various conflicts detailed.
