This is one of the first Asterix books I ever read. I recently bought it for my kids and am impressed with the drawings and bright colours. The story has a big reunion at the beginning to mark the anniversary of the Gaulish victory at Gergovia. Characters from many other Asterix books make a return. To celebrate they pile into one of the Roman camps for a punch-up after tanking up on magic potion. There they find a prisoner who is a Corsican exile wanting to return to fight the Roman occupation of his island. After a funny non-encounter with the pirates our friends arrive in Corsica where they meet some laid-back but ferocious locals. Together they defeat the Romans and we get another happy ending.
