Reader Reviews:What A Shame (0/3 people found this helpful)My name is Jason Vale. I am the author of many books on health, juicing and addiction. The heading for this review simply reads 'what a shame'. This isn't actually related to the book as I haven't read it. For all I know it could be excellent and any book, no matter who has written it, that has the power to help anyone overcome their food related problems I am all for - 100%. No the 'what a shame' title is not for the book, but for Sophie Boss. A person who felt the need to review one of my books and declare it is a short term fix. I assume she has never read and it would be sad if her review prevented anyone else from doing the same. The book in question has been translated into many languages and was a number 1 best-seller. I have received thousands of emails from all over world from people whose lives have been transformed because of the information in the book. What I find incredible sad is that an author would review another book simple in order to promote their own. Sophie, if you have read my book you will know it is not a simple 7 day programme and deals as much with the mental aspect of change of diet as physical. There is also a phase 2 and 3. If you have read it, you clearly missed this and if you haven't, you really shouldn't be writing reviews. If you do have a genuine passion for this subject and actually care about people caught in what I describe as the food trap, then you should pay more attention and time to them than promoting your own book. I am going to buy a copy of this book and if the reviews are anything to go by, I can only assume it is very good. My beef is not with the book, but with the extremely unprofessional nature of one of its authors - Sophie Boss. Despair to self belief in 240 pages. (1/1 people found this helpful)"Can you imagine a life without the slavery of dieting and constantly controlling your weight? A life without rules about what and how much you eat, without having to "be good"?" is how the book begins, and I certainly couldn't. Or I'd imagine hat life without diets meant being forever fat. It seemed there was no alternative to dieting if I wanted to be slimmer.
Beyond Chocolate (2/2 people found this helpful)This book has changed my life! I have my love for food, cooking, clothes shopping back. Brilliantly written and easy to dip in and out of, I'm applying the principles to every aspect of my life and loving the results.
A life beyond dieting (2/2 people found this helpful)I stumbled across this book about a year ago. I was on the lookout for yet another diet book - little did I know that Beyond Chocolate was going to change my outlook on food and diets completely! Sophie and Audrey Boss write in a friendly and engaging manner and I found myself relating to a huge amount of their experiences. These women have really been there themselves and don't proclaim to be experts. In fact, they point out the only person who is the expert on you is YOU! Instead of giving you rules to follow, Beyond Chocolate suggests some principles/ideas to experiment with in order to find out what really works for you as an individual. Since reading this book, I have - for the first time - started to trust my own instincts about my body and the food I eat. Beyond Chocolate- fab stuff! (3/3 people found this helpful)This book has completely changed the way I approach eating and weight loss. Before I was a serial dieter - starting a new one every new year, and struggling through to the summer, being 'good', exercising all the time, and losing often quite substantial amounts of weight. Then, from summer to Christmas I 'fell off' the dieting & exercise wagon, and put the lot back on, and usually a bit more, ready to start the whole process again the next new year! Now though, I eat the foods I like when I'm hungry and stop when I've had enough. I never 'fall off' because I'm never 'on' anything! Two years in, I'm happy & comfortable, and have experienced steady weight loss and no putting weight back on. Fab stuff! Can't recommend it more highly.
