Killer ending (0/0 people found this helpful)

I thought that Blood Beat was an improvement on Bec, but didn't enjoy it as much as Lord Loss, Demon Thief and Slawter.

This book returns to the character of Grubbs Grady (along with Dervish, Bill-E and Juni). Grubbs has been getting ill and feeling an odd change beginning to occur around a full moon...will he fall prey to his werewolf genes or can Dervish and Juni save him from the curse before it is too late...?

Unlike the first three books in the series, this book is quite slow paced and takes a long time for the actions to begin. However, this is because the next book in the series continues directly after the cliffhanger ending of this one, do it is only really the first half of a book. The first three quarters are quite slow but it really picks up in the last 60 or 70 pages and the last chapter is amazing, its the best chapter from any Darren Shan book ever, its BRILLIANT and totally worth reading through the less-exciting chapters during the first part of the book.

Darren Shan should be ashamed. (0/2 people found this helpful)

I am shocked and disgusted that he made Juni evil.
My son has Albinism and is taunted and discriminated against every day.And now his very favourite author sinks so low as to perpetuate the myth that all albinos are evil. He should be ashamed of himself. A hurtful nasty trick. I expect such cheap stereotypes from untalented writers like Dan Brown. I expect it from idiots in Hollywood. I thought better of Darren Shan. He should know he has a responsibility to his readers not to hurt them. He should be ashamed. He has lost a whole family of fans. We even bought the new book thinking he would explain himself, but we can't bear to read past the first chapter. He is as bad, in fact worse, than the bullies at school. Kids don't know better, especially when their hero eggs them on. Cheap trick. Bully. He should be ashamed.

The calm before the storm (1/1 people found this helpful)

I wasn't sure about this book when I first read it, compared to the other Demonata books it felt a little slow and had nowhere near as much gore. However, having now read book 6 - Demon Apocolypse, I fully appreciate this book. It's almost like the two books should have been one but there was just too much to fit into one book, I wouldn't recomend either book without the other. Blood Beast sets the scene perfectly for Demon Apocolypse which is a rip roaring horror fest that, without Blood Beast, I don't think I would have cared for the characters to the point where I actually shed tears.

This book isn't just setting the scene, there's a lot more happening than you realise.

Great book yet again (2/3 people found this helpful)

This book is great, it's gory, scary and has more twists and bends than ever. But there is a downside, after reading slawter, my fav book out of the series, you expect an even better story line but there isn't. Don't get me wrong but this is a great book. AMAZING!
