Reader Reviews:Brazil Handbook (0/0 people found this helpful)The South American Handbook has always been the world leader in guide books for this part of the world so to have specific country volumes makes this the best guide to Brazil available. For such a large country the author does an excellent job and now in its sixth edition is completely updated.
Witty, insightful and accurate - the perfect companion! (1/2 people found this helpful)The Footprint guide to Brazil was our bible during our recent visit - an absolutely brilliant source of information on everything from the best places to see wildlife to the hottest bars in Rio. Great reviews of everything from hotels to tour-operators were honest and useful, detailing the good - and the bad, when necessary. (It can be really hard to make an informed choice when you're out there!) Loved the info on local music, the fabulous photos, and all the great tips on festivals etc. The author clearly spent an enormous amount of time researching this book, and his love for the country, its people and culture is evident on every page. This book never let us down, and we'll certainly be choosing Footprint guides in the future. Brazilian Handbook (1/3 people found this helpful)Once the original (miss-bound) copy had been replaced (promptly and with no hesitation by Amazon)this book proved most useful during my trip to Brazil and only served to make me wish I could have stayed longer to explore some of the other amazing places included in the book.
Quality Stuff (1/3 people found this helpful)Used in Bahia, Rio and Sao Paulo. Lots of discoveries through this guide. Especially great for music and nights out. Some choice places off the beaten trail and for a splurge meal. Nice to have a guide that feels like it has been written by a person for a change as well. Excellent (2/3 people found this helpful)I was a week in Rio and Sao Paulo. I used to live in Sao Paulo. I found the book great for both - especially for the nightlife, restaurants and live bands and the stuff beyond the obvious - like the new places north of Jardins and in Santa Teresa. There's a big essay on the music scene in Brazil which is one of the best things about my country.
