If you are looking for academic essays on Brazilian Music and its international influences, then this is the one for you. There are about ten essays on different topics, like 'Chiclete Com Banana', 'Carmen Miranda', 'Tropicalia' and even Brazilian Metal, centered around Minas Gerias. I used loads of references from this book for my university dissertation on Brazilian Popular Music.

Other good books on this subject are 'Hello, Hello Brazil', 'Brutality Garden', and 'The Mystery Of Samba', all of which are likely to be on Amazon.

If you want a light read about Brazilian music, go for antoher book like The Brazilian Sound by Pessanha and McGowan.
