Like many "scholars" of Buddhism author's analysis is very unsophisticated, makes broad generalization, does not go beyond cultural myth, lacks home work (just look at the bibliography). Philosophic analysis is primitive, ad nauseum. Sees thankas as a narative, a pictorial family tree of pantheon of Buddhas, hierarchical, and claims it is a craft.
Has colorful pictures though.
