Reader Reviews:the children of the red king have returned (4/5 people found this helpful)The 2nd book of charlie bone.charlie meets henry yewbeam from the winter of 1916. Henry Yewbeam twists through time in the time twister! (6/6 people found this helpful)This book is about a boy who twists through time courtesy of the time twister, the shining glass marble with breathtaking views of the past or future. On January 12th 1916, Henry Yewbeam stumbles upon the time twister and twists through time to 1993, where he has very strange adventures. Predictable but worth reading if you've got nothing to do. (9/29 people found this helpful)All in all this book is not bad.I would suggest this book to a 8/9 year old because the language is simple , and the character, "Charlie Bone" is about 11,and a 8/9 year old could resemble the character, and this will make the book more plesureable to read for the child. If the child has a lot of common sense he/her will probobly figure out the whole plot within a few chapters . Just for the reason:ITS SO DAMN PREDICTABLE!.But I cannot deny , this book is good , maybe a little too similar to Harry Potter?...I don't know. All I can say is: the book is well written and perfect for a child in last couple of years of primary school best.But...if your older and a fan of Harry Potter then maybe you should give the book a chance because its defenetly not dull, only predictable.I've warned you. Incredibly Enjoyable (22/23 people found this helpful)Having only recently discovered and loved "Midnight for Charlie Bone" I was delighted to find that the next book in the series was already available. "The Time Twister" is even better! It is one of those books that you pick up and can only put down again once you have reached the end. As you can guess from the title, this book features time travel. It starts with Charlie's great uncle (aged 11) being sent through time by his evil cousin and it is not too hard to guess where he ends up... Although there are a lot of differences between the Charlie Bone books and those of Harry Potter, if you like Harry you'll love these books too. The plots twist and turn unpredictably and the story is truly magical, fun and very enjoyable. I can't wait for the next... better second time round (12/13 people found this helpful)i started by reading the first book in this series, "midnight for charlie bone", and although the book was good it was a bit disappointing as it seemed to be rushed towards the end and the lack of use of the endowments, but this second part to the story is much much better it goes deeper into charlies story as well as introducing us to another whole new story, which involves charlies great uncle who vanished nearly a hundred years before arriving in a whirl of mist at bloors academy, and the fight to keep him safe from the bloors who want rid of him.this is a great read , i would recomend anyone of any age to read it.
