Reader Reviews:A rare and delicious treat! (3/3 people found this helpful)This is the rarest of delicious treats: a book filled with tempting recipes, plus stories to warm your heart even when you're not in the kitchen cooking! It is one of the best gifts to give someone you love, no matter the reason...or season. I believe it will be the gift book of choice for a wedding shower because the recipes span all traditions and appeal to the novice or experienced cook. I've learned my lesson: now I keep several copies on hand when I need the perfect present for someone I treasure, and don't have time to shop. A cookbook for the kitchen and the soul! This is your chance to really experience the stories as you read them and then try your hand at the rceipes. I can almost smell the aroma of fresh bread or pies as they are cooking. I have tried several already and have gotten rave reviews for the food, but it is even more fun to tell the story to the family as they enjoyed the dish. I am already thinking of one recipe that I would like to share myself and I know as you read and try the recipes, you'll have one to share also. True enjoyment with the stories and recipes. I saw a copy of it at my daughter-in-law's kitchen, and after looking it over, knew I had to have one. A tasty read and even more comforting than chocolate! (0/0 people found this helpful)The best of all worlds in one inspirational cookbook. From before meal grace and inspiring stories to recipes from the good ole U.S. to faraway lands. And thats not all, it contains wisdom and recipes from Mom, Dad, Grandma and even a soup for the whole neighborhood. There is even a cake recipe for depression that will bring lots of smiles, concoctions from the kitchens of lovers, calorie burning tips, and holiday and party ideas. Everything from the soup to Mom's apple pie and it even has a chocolate fudge recipe for me! I'd love to try every recipe in this book along with digesting its spiritual tidbits. This book fulfils both your physical and mental hungers.
