I bought this book for my son who is married to a Czech lady. He is learning a word or two each day. Some day when they have a child, this book will also be great for him or her to learn both languages. It is colorful, simple, and helps you with pronunciation. I got the idea to get it from an engineer I met who travels to CZ Republic regularly. She learned a lot of her CZ form this book and recommended it to me.
A good dictionary, a little tricky for Chech people (6/6 people found this helpful)
If you want to learn the Czech language through naming everyday objects, then this is the dictionary to use. The book has a nice layout with beautifully illustrated pictures. The words are given in English and the phonetic Czech pronounciation. It also explains how to actually pronounce all the different Czech letters.
I bought the dictionary thinking it would help the Czech girl in my class to learn English. This has proven to be a little tricky as unfortunately the book does not give the English phonetic pronounciation.
