Reader Reviews:Basic (0/0 people found this helpful)As an introductory text it is passable. There are still many typing errors in the text, even in the second edition. But it does cover all the basics. cd has now been changed (0/0 people found this helpful)I have only just bought this book, so rated it with the existing average.
SOAS book of choice (3/3 people found this helpful)This really is a great series of books for those who are serious about learning Chinese and you'll be hard pushed to find any better. There are 4 books in the series, so when you are finished with chapter 10 in Volume 1, chapter 11 will be there waiting for you in Volume 2.;)
Chinese in steps volume 1 (2/3 people found this helpful)
hen hao (7/7 people found this helpful)I agree with the reviewer ahead of me. This would absolutely be a 5 star product if it wasn't for the problems with the CDs. A little time with the CDs and my ipod mean that I now have each chapter saved as a separate file, but they really should be like that already.
