Chinese sculpture has been the major passion of my life, so when I first spotted this book on the internet, I pre-ordered it and proceeded to await its arrival for a full year, only to be completely disappointed on receiving it. My main complaint is that the photographs are atrocious - I think they are old ones from Mainland Chinese publications - which are by and large out of focus, and totally unacceptable today, when high visual quality is expected of art publications. The pieces are generally of inferior quality, especially compared to a lot of what has come out in recent years, and the layout is poor to say the least. I would have returned it if I had bothered to read Amazon's small print earlier. I am still waiting for a book worthy of the subject.
