Contains the wise bird and the taxidermist. (0/0 people found this helpful)

Here are richard Wurmbrands thoughts on first all how hard it is to be a Jew, and then to believe in Christ and find a church who will accept you. Amongst the true life stories of living in Nazi ruled Rumania as a jew and helping others find Jesus as the Messiah, comes wonderful stories such as the Wise bird and the Taxidermist:

A taxidermist was in a forest one day, and he caught a beautiful bird in his trap. He was just about to kill it, when the bird spoke to him and said:"If you spare my life, I will give you 3 pieces of advice that will prove very useful to you." he taxidermist thought to himself, it is surely a miracle of God, and there are other birds in the fortest to stuff, so I will do what he says.
The bird flew up onto a branch and said:"First, don't believe absurd things, no matter who says them, secondly, if you don a good turn, don't regret it later. Thirdly, don't try to climb higher than you should."

The taxidermist thought about these things, how he had often believed people just because they were famous. he had also regretted giving to charity very often shortly afterwards, and he knew that he had spent much time and money trying to better himself and reach things too high for himself.

Just then the bird flew off higher and shouted:"Fool! I have a diamond in my belly and if you had killed me you would have found it and been rich for the rest of your life!" The taxidemist climbed up after the bird to catch it, but it is no easy thing to catch a bird with bare hands, and each time he got cloe, the bird flew up to a higher branch. as they neared the top of the tree, the taxidermist lost hid footing and fell, breaking both his legs.

The bird flew down to him and said:"Didn't I tell you 3 useful pieces of advice, which you knew in your head were true, and yet within one minute you did the exact opposite of ALL of them. Whever heard of a bird having a diamond in his belly? After you let me go you suddenly regretted it, and finally you tried to climb higher than you could reach."

So it is, says Wurmbrand, that the gap betwwen the human head and the human heart is great, and the gap between the human ear and the human brain is just as great. So it was when he heard the good news of Jesus Christ, yet didn't want to accept its truth.
