Reader Reviews:Christmas past (22/22 people found this helpful)How I loved Christmas as a child,the thrill,the anticipation and the excitement.Miss Read captures the spirit of Christmas as it should be.In Village Christmas the very first Christmas is told through the eyes of sisters Margaret and Mary who both come to the aid of the new family in the village and in doing so bring the whole village together.In No holly for Miss Quinn,Miriam goes to the rescue of her brother and his children after their mother is taken into hospital.Her brother Lovell is a clergyman so has much to do at Christmas but Miriam comes through and makes a wonderful Christmas for everyone.In The Christmas mouse we see a little family who have no husbands and little money but what they do have is spent wisely and lovingly.The Gran gives a frightened little boy good advice and helps him on his way making it a good Christmas all round.
