Reader Reviews:Perfect First Book? (3/3 people found this helpful)I bought this book because it was recommended pre-reading for attending a boot camp training course on Computer Forensics. I was glad I did. The book provides a broad introduction to the field of computer forensics that can easily be understood by readers who are new to the subject. It is probably a perfect first book because it covers the basic steps of the forensics process and introduces the reader to the key concepts, best practices and tools - without the reader getting bogged down in detail. Highly recommended, whether you are just moving into a computer forensics role and/or are starting out on your studying to take the EC-Council CHFI exam. If you are new to the forensics field then I would recommend reading this book and then follow that up with a more in-depth study of the subject by reading "Incident Response & Computer Forensics" by Mandia/Prosise/Pepe, for example. (see separate review).
