A Kitchen Essential (6/8 people found this helpful)

I bought this book after having watched the series on channel 4 and I can say the book is every bit as good as the series. The recipes really don't compromise on taste, in fact I had the chicken tikka for dinner tonight and it's the best tasting curry I've ever made. It's also full of really useful info, the calorie content of popular foods, healthier food swaps etc. The book in itself is really beautifully presented and would make a great gift for a girlfriend of family member (not just female!) I think the healthy fry up would go down well with husbands up and down the country! I have yet to make the infamous chocolate cake but I look forward to it!

"Cook yourself thin" (5/6 people found this helpful)

I love this book and thinking about buying it for my brothers Christmas present and was interested to see if other people love this book as much as I do. I bought this book after hearing a lady rave on about the chocolate cake at my weight watchers meeting, and I am pleased to say that I haven't been disappointed. The whole of my family (two small boys, husband and extended) love the food. The boys especially love the hot chocolate and the chicken tikka. This doesn't feel like a diet book at all in fact it's just a cleaver way of increasing the amount of veg you eat which is why the lady who commented about it being impractical for working mum's is so off the mark. My kids are eating more veg than ever and the healthy sunday lunch it effortless. What more could I want!

Fantastic food but beware of the 'prep' times! (7/7 people found this helpful)

Having just bought this book, I have already made 3 of the recipes with great success. Certainly can't fault the taste of the food - but a warning - the lasagne for example - claims 15 minutes 'prep' time....Perhaps if you had an army of servants doing all the chopping, slicing and dicing that could be true (which those 4 girls probably do have!) For me, a not-incompetent cook, it took about 90 minutes 'prep' time - and I even enlisted the help of my blender! So I would highly recommend the food - but take the prep times with a large pinch of (unallowed) salt!

Loose weight and enjoy your food! (9/9 people found this helpful)

I absolutely love this book! I have made lots of the recipes and have enjoyed making them - they are simple and so delicious. I have mainly used the evening meal recipes and found them to be very filling and I have lost over a stone so far (I have been exercising as well). I completely agree that you shouldn't compromise on taste and flavour just because you are reducing your calorie intake.

My only gripe with the book is that it is paperback. Hardback cookbooks stay open much better and the pages are much better quality. A silly grumble really! I just hope the girls bring out another book before I've made all their recipes!

Stuff your face and still fit in the little dress! (20/22 people found this helpful)

My two great passions in life are food and fashion, but my love of the former hinders my enjoyment of the latter! I really do eat and eat and eat - it makes me happy, but then I go shopping and can't get my arse into anything - it makes me sad. This book is the answer. Now I can do both. If you only buy two books this winter, make it this and The Shopaholics Guide to Buying Fashion & Beauty Online - so neither a fat arse nor torrential rain will stop you shopping!
