I own several guides to Crete, most of them very good, but if you want to get a real feel of the Island, it's culture, history, and people then I must admit that the Insight Guide to Crete is "By far the Best" ... includes all the very latest travel details, tourist information and telephone numbers together with a list of useful websites and recommendations for further reading.
