Not wishing to rain on anyone's parade here but i have to say i'm not that impressed with this book. I bought it because it had good reviews here and they said it was user friendly and the tutorials were great. (amazon incidently offered by far the best price ;). Honestly though i find the book rather unstimulating to read, colourless and passionless. The tutorials not altogether that useful nor well explained. As is the "marker section" of chapter 4. I have no learning difficulties and am thoroughly into my music tech. I just wanted something a little more fun! Am now buying a CDROM on cubase SX to see if this livens my learning up a little.

Difficult to compare it with any other books as there are not many published as yet. However Cubase comes with a user manual in PDF. This is 700 pages plus and I can not be bothered printing it. I like to have a paper manual. This book is not a manual but it has a chapter on on the main features of cubase which if you really want you can look deeper into the user manual. I have not read this book cover to cover but find it a very good reference of what can be done, the potential and if I need more info I then know what to look for in the user manual. There are a lot of good tips as well . I think this is a good book for people like me who are new to CUBASE SX.
