5/5 stars

Gripping stuff. Couldn't put it down etc. (0/0 people found this helpful)

Reading this was like I'd accidentally washed my hands with Superglue instead of soap. I couldn't put this book down. Utterly, utterly gripping; like a mountain gorilla putting you into a headlock and not letting go until the final bell.

1/5 stars

Probably the worst book ever written (3/4 people found this helpful)

I read this book on holiday last year as it happened to be lying around in the cottage I was staying in. It's just a shame that you're not allowed to give 0 stars.

Seriously, this book is BAD. It's like a story told by a breathless five-year-old who's stayed up way past his bedtime after a day playing war with his friends. And whilst you might indulge a child telling such a story, every right-thinking person should be condemning it when it comes from an adult, not publishing it or buying it. It has the most preposterous plot I've ever come across (BUT WHAT ARE THE RUSSIANS UP TO???), suffers from literary (in the loosest possible sense of the word) Attention Deficit Disorder, and has a hero that not even Calvin at his most juvenile would invent. "My name is Pitt. Dirk Pitt. I'm a marine biologist. Who just happens to be a cross between Indiana Jones and James Bond after eating too much sugar."

It's laughably, abominably, amazingly bad. By buying and reading this book, you are sending out subliminal signals that say "I am a moron."

2/5 stars

A good time filler......... (0/1 people found this helpful)

If you can stomach the America being the gratest thing since sliced bread theme (which is probably difficult for anyone who is'nt American to cope with these days), then its quite an imaginative and fast moving story. Worth a read if unbeliavable action adventure stories are your thing. About 2.5 stars really...

Couldn't put it down. (7/10 people found this helpful)

I could not put the book down for a minute. I was gripped in it's grasp. It had a very clever plot with a lot of mystery and adventure. A recommened read!
