A great book of the Zulu war battlefields (9/9 people found this helpful)
David Rattray was actually born in South Africa and was very close to the Zulu people throughout his life especially as a Game Warden in the Kruger National park. He learned the Zulu language and became fluent, and then felt that the Zulu side of the War was not covered enough, so thats what he set out to do through his books, (this and also Day of the Dead Moon) and through his very popular lectures at the Royal Geographical Society.
Sadly, and perhaps ironically David was murdered this year by Zulu burglars at his Lodge at Fugitives lodge but his work will live on .
