Reader Reviews:Practical and incredibly useful (0/0 people found this helpful)Absolutely brilliant.
They don't come any better than this (0/0 people found this helpful)More practical and less philosophical than "The Practical Art of Motion Picture Sound" by David Lewis Yewdall - which I heartily recommend - this book takes you step-by-step through each stage of dialogue editing. The examples are based on Pro Tools sound editor and Avid - but the author emphasises this is merely for the sake of expediency - the principles still apply to Adobe Audition and Final Cut Pro. This book gives me all the techniques I need to work at a professional level. If you need to buy Pro Tools (the software won't run unless you have the associated hardware) then buy the "MBox 2 Micro" or the "Mbox 2 Mini" - both cost less than Adobe Audition (which I also use).
A good professional book for aspiring film professionals. (1/1 people found this helpful)Clearly phrased, easy to read, concise and extremely useful, this book is a step by step guide to every pop, crackle and roll of the core part of sound editing - making the dialogue heard. It also has a great overview of the context - how to transfer production sound from the picture editing room, what you'll need from production as well, favoured/time saving procedures and the required contacts in other departments of production (a crucial though rarely covered issue).
