Editorial Review:

It seems nowadays everyone you meet wants to leave their job, work from home and earn a fortune in their slippers 'day trading'. Okay then, hot shot, what is day trading? Can you really do it from home? Have you got what it takes? Well before you hand in your notice you had better read Digital Day Trading. For the rest of us too, who just have an interest in the whole phenomena, want to know what's going on and get the story behind an activity that led one man to kill his colleagues at a day trading firm, then this is a great read. This is not a journalistic exposé. It is a book for traders, and also a quick and easy way to get a good overview of the subject. It is very useful for the short-term trader--anyone looking to buy and hold over a period of up to around three months. The secret ingredient that makes it even more valuable is that it covers the important and overlooked issue of trading psychology.

You can never learn how to day trade by reading books alone, yet they are an essential foundation. Digital Day Trading is clearly written and captures the correct balance of detail and overview without getting bogged-down or being superficial. After explaining in lucid terms what day traders are trying to do and the level of skill and expertise they require, Abell interviews three professional day traders. Interviews are an excellent way of conveying insight and Abell asks the right questions--albeit Friedfertig and West's Electronic Day Traders' Secrets devotes a whole book to the technique and is a good complement to this title if you feel the subject is worth pursuing.

Abell provides a useful, practical guide to some of the technical considerations of trading short, however this is by no means a technical analysis book. He concludes with more on trading psychology and this is where his skill and passion really lie and where for most readers the book's value will be found. If you are looking to pursue trading psychology in more detail then Abell's The Inner Game of Trading and Outer Game of Trading are the best places to go although some of the trading psychology material here overlaps. Maybe Abell tries to cover too many subjects in discussing technical analysis, trading psychology and day trading--but that is what stands the book apart from the others. --Alpesh Patel

5/5 stars

Excellent trading text (0/0 people found this helpful)

Many good, useful ideas and market techniques. I found the Tradecast information most helpful as it represents a state of the art trading screen which is of interest to the serious trader. All in all, highly recommended.

At least half the book is useless (0/0 people found this helpful)

Being a beginner in trading and reading the reviews I went for this book. Be warned that half the book contains 'excerpts from the Trade Cast 3.0 manual'. Which is of absolutely no use to anyone not using the package. Also it contains pages of stock codes for American companies. I returned the book today.

superior day trading book (0/0 people found this helpful)

Excellent discussion of all pertinent day trading topics.Consistently works in all time frames.Far better than Farrel or Ferfertig and West.As far as I know abell is the only day trading author around who really has a reputation as a successful trader with a proven track record. The interviews are also worthwhile.
