Reader Reviews:Good (4/6 people found this helpful)This book was written for the American wanna-be filmmaker, and so some of the content is not relevant to the UK reader. However, if you're wondering about how to administrate production, what to consider when budgeting your movie and for a general basic feel of what making a movie entails, then this is a great book. Otherwise, you'll be bored and patronised. Chapters include very basic script writing information, more detailed budgeting (in US dollars but useful as a starting point) information, some business considerations - again amercanised but some is relevant to uk, some basic technical advice and information about filming and camera's, tips on handling casting sessions, some valuable information on production and estimating how much film will be used during shooting, and some comments on editing and distributing your movie. Its written in an accessible light-hearted style and gets the information over easily. It is not for a professional or someone who has been through film school, but it is entertaining and has some useful ideas and comments. Reasonable, but not enough depth (11/11 people found this helpful)Digital Filmmaking 101 offers a wide overview of the digital filmaking process, from shooting to editing. Whilst it serves as a good introduction for the curious beginner, it doesn't go into enough depth with any of its subjects to raise the reader's knowledge about that of a cursory inspection. Ideal for someone interested in a concise but generalised introduction to the subject, but anybody aspiring to professional filmmaking would be better advised to purchase more detailed, specific books on the various areas of film production.
