Editorial Review:With a wide array of hands-on lessons and the Macromedia seal of approval, Director 7 and Lingo Authorized is a reliable, insightful guide for any aspiring multimedia author. You start off with an introduction to Director and its interface and toolset. Next you move on to do the following:
Reader Reviews:what an absolute book!!!!!!!!! (0/0 people found this helpful)this book is out of the ordinary its the best book to read if you are using director Solid, well-paced book for beginners and intermediates. (0/0 people found this helpful)Until very recently I'd been using version 4 of Director, and bought this book to help me get up to speed on D7's new functions, and learn more about Shockwave, and new Lingo capabilities. To this end the book has been very useful, although things only really got going for me at around Chapter 15, 340 pages in. It was a bit annoying that so much content was given up to what amounted to the very basics, but I guess this was aimed at people who are completely new to the program, in which case things were carefuly and clearly explained, if a little dryly. (Check John Thompson's "Lingo Workshop" for a good example of injected but not irritating humour.) As a graphic designer interested in programming (and so not nearly as code-headed as a professional programmer), I found the pacing of the later leasons steady and easily navigable. All in all, a good manual which looks as though it's going to become a regularly thumbed reference book. Great for Beginners (0/0 people found this helpful)This is a good book on Director 7. It covers the basics including the integration of Lingo into Director. There are 30 Lessons and takes on average 60 hours to complete them. It typically repeat quite a few features as you go through the lessons to make sure that you know what you are doing. My rating is 7/10. Simply the best! (0/0 people found this helpful)This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. Not only is it clear and easy to follow but they've also made it fun. If you have any experience with Flash you'll fly through this book because the tutorials are laid out with bold items (things you have to do) and an explanation so you can ignore the majority of the explanations. The only thing I think it is missing is perhaps a quick reference for Lingo. www.ymonda.com Dissapointed (0/0 people found this helpful)Well, I don't recommend this book as it is just a repeat or a restructure at best of the help that comes with Director 7. This makes sense because it's the same people writing the help. CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
