Reader Reviews:Loads of paper - no information (2/3 people found this helpful)I've worked my way through this book for the past week. Quite frankly I'll be glad when it's over.. and it seems to offer nothing that I can't do already in Flash. The worked examples are extremly poor (e.g. animated text that can be done in any software), there are many references in the index that aren't in the book (e.g. inserting keyframes), the wording is counter productive (e.g 3-6 pages on preferences), with very few examples of ANY use (e.g. 3D website animation, movie animation etc.) I'm deeply cynical of the previous reviews...... Good riddance to bad rubbish great book to start off (4/4 people found this helpful)The best thing about this book is the logical layout. Each lesson has learning outcomes and a predicted time of completion.I started looking forward to doing the lessons because you can feel yourself progressing. The first half of the book introduces you to director with a great learning curve, the second half of the book introduces you to the lingo. I would recommend this book to everyone starting of, i'll be buying the director 8.5 version of this book to get my teeth stuck into the 3d aspect. Alot of the time the official book of a product arn't very good but this book goes against that trend - go get it baby! THE DREAM COMES THROUGH (3/3 people found this helpful)The best book I've ever read on interactive multimedia design, the author takes you through every steps from novice to expert user, not only showing you the features of Director, but impacting real life scenairo and techniques that other books left untouched, takes you from basic programming language to advance Lingo scripting such as " randoming, expiration date script to procted your work, scripting cast, frame, movie etc. seeing is believing you need to grab this book before you can know what 'am talking about and what you are missing out. If you want to build a professional interactive multimedia project here is the best self tutorial learning aid you need. I wished if the author can publish a book on "AUTHORWARE BOOK ". The perfect book to learn all the ins and outs of Director 8 (2/2 people found this helpful)Having never used a multimedia package before, and purchasing a book of over 800 pages i started going through this book with much trepidation, but by the end of the first exercise i knew it had been worth every penny! The layout is superb, and you are guided through every aspect of the package using easy to follow instructions and exercises, i highly recommend this book, an essential tool if you want to learn Director, especially if you are a complete novice. It is so good, the best Director guide in the market. (2/2 people found this helpful)Thoughout the book you can get step-by-step explain. In each leason, you can learn different new things. After finishing a few lessons, you will have confidence of how to control Director in an easy manner. CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
