I was given this book for Christmas having been to Everest Base Camp this year and seen the north face of Everest first hand. The tales of doctoring and trekking in Nepal are great, how many people would take their pregnant wife on a tramp through Nepal! There are definate highs and lows in the book which give it a great feeling of honesty. The medicine makes for refreshing reading, todays modern doctor would struggle to make the diagnoses which the author carefully deduces from simple medical history taking and examination. Overall an inspiring read for mountaineers, doctors and anyone with a sense of adventure
