Best Book Available for Dog Names (0/0 people found this helpful)

I have consulted countless books on this subject over the years as a dog breeder. To many it may not seem like a huge deal, but for me, a book like this saves me a lot of headache and work. What was different about this book was the guidance offered through the intros and illustrations. Immediately, I was given new ideas for names I hadn't even considered. The text was presented in a lively and informative way and the selection of names are among the best I have ever seen. From "movie directors" and "energetic types", to "dogs that made it in to space" and "alcoholic drinks". There is a separate chapter specifically designed for professional breeders, but the five other chapters were witty, unique and designed for all dog lovers. There is even a chapter for naming the family dog, for kids. I can't recommend it enough

Doggy Paradise (0/0 people found this helpful)

As a still-grieving owner of a late Cavalier King
Charles, this book brought back many fond memories of
our family's years with him. This extensive compendium
illustrates simple names such as Fido, Lady and Paws
names as well as familiar world, political, stage,
place names such as Dakota, Jamica and Kathmandu. Yet
it also includes charming domestic appellations such
as Crackers, Jellybean, and personality attributes -
Bashful, Frisky, Jerk are all here. In all, an
inspiring idea which many pet owners may have
overlooked in their urge to domesticate the little pup
a.s.a.p..
The illustrations are elegant, funny and appealing and
so deceptively simple as to even inspire some owners
to attempt a little silhouette or portrait of their
own pooch. Although on a personal note, I would have loved to see
the artists illustration of a King Charles.
