Reader Reviews:Car Haters will spit some more... (0/0 people found this helpful)This is a book about cars. Reviewed in Clarkson's own inimitable way. He rambles on about this and that, and suddenly the point becomes clear. Sometimes he can sum it all up in a small paragraph at the end, sometimes not. But just because he is writing for ages about a particular car, does not mean he actually likes it! For those who hate cars and Clarkson, this is not for you. For the rest of us, enjoy! Clarkson, I feel, is often waging war against the lefties of this world and long may he continue. Clarkson for PM anyone? Arrogance and Prejudice (0/6 people found this helpful)Looked at this at high street bookstore.
Every chapter is about a different car (2/3 people found this helpful)I wanted this book for my father in law, who loves Clarkson. He informed me that he was really disappointed with the book, as it is mainly about cars. I had a brief scan through it, cars, cars cars. If you love the cars, you will love the book, if not, just content yourself to reading the column in the paper Funny even if you don't care about cars (0/1 people found this helpful)This book has plenty of genuine, laugh-out-loud moments, usually derived from the random meanderings and rants that begin each article.
Funny and Irreverent (1/3 people found this helpful)I'd give this five stars if I hadn't already read a fair few of the chapters in Jeremy's Times section. Mind you he reviewed the Nissan 350Z Roadster in a poor light and given that I have one I felt a bit jarred off. Biggest thing though is not to actually read this like a book because you will start to get an intense sense of deja vu each time you start the next chapter and car review. JC kicks off with a story/rant/observation which then loosely rotates around into the car review, which is based not upon technical merit but on how JC feels at any one time. Which means that I read this for a laugh not to glean much about cars I can't actually afford. It works better in the Times because you get a weeks' break between each car by which time you're ready for the next installment. Still, I enjoyed it and I did chuckle a few times and generally agree with JC's sentiments about our miserable leaders.
