Editorial Review:

Eve Karpf reads Jacqueline Wilson's Double Act in this unabridged three-cassette audio book. Identical twins Ruby and Garnet are inseparable. They do everything together and go everywhere together. They love being twins, and since the death of their mother they have been closer than ever, safe in their little world. But when Dad finds a new girlfriend everything in the twins' lives is turned upside down--new home, new school, new everything. And gradually, being twins isn't quite the same anymore.

In Double Act, Wilson brilliantly captures the pain and uncertainty that change can bring. This story of two little girls gradually realising that they have no control over what is happening is both funny and poignant. Wilson shines as the twins begin to accept that things will never be quite the same, allowing her characters to grow and develop as individuals without ever losing sight of the bond that holds them together. Running time is three hours and 40 minutes. --Susan Harrison

Heart - Warming And Hilarious (0/0 people found this helpful)

Double Act is a comedy drama about two twins called Ruby and Garnet. They are always confusing people with their looks and their perfect timed movements. They love their Dad, Rick and Gran ever so much and they all try ever so hard to live like a normal family ever since Ruby and Garnets Mum died. When Ruby and Garnet sneak away to London by themselves, to audition for the T.V serial `The Twins At S.T Clares' I wondered - will they stay Ruby and Garnet forever?

I would recommend this book to people of all ages to read this book as it is hilarious and heart warming.

It made me feel curious about what would happen and it made my heart feel warm.

About the author of the book

Jacqueline Wilson is one of my favourite authors and she wrote this great book! She has her own personal collection of over 15,000 books and I don't even have about a thirtieth of that (500 books)!

About the awards for the book

This book has won the Smarties Book Prize and the Children's Book Award; it has being shortlisted for the Young Telegraph/ Fully Booked Award and being shortlisted for the Nottingham Children's Book Award.

The story plot of the book

Ruby and Garnet are twins; they live with their gran and their dad and the family live happily for a long time. However, with dad's girlfriend Rose, will everything change? Find out what happened to them when they had to move away to a horrible, little village by the country...

My awards for the book

I would rate this brilliant book 10/ 10; I really, really, really, really, really, really enjoyed this book, to prove that I really, really, really, really, really, really, really enjoyed this book, I couldn't put it down until the very end! I would recommend it to anyone who really likes Jacqueline Wilson's books - just like me, especially girls.

A great read (5/9 people found this helpful)

This great book by our favourite author, Jacqueline Wilson, was one that we couldn't put down once we'd started it - we read it in 5 days.
It's all about two identical twin sisters Ruby and Garnet. Ruby is the more boisterous of the two and they live with their dad and gran after their mum died. Their dad takes them away to the country to open a bookshop with his new girlfriend, Rose. They don't settle very well and the story is mostly about what they do once they've moved. Eventually, they find their differences are just as important as how much they are alike.

This is a great book that was my favourite when I was younger. It is a feel-good book that should be read by all children. I think that it is the one of her best books, although if you enjoy this one then you should try some of her others as well. You could try The Story of Tracy Beaker (that has now been made into a TV program) or The Suitcase Kid. Happy reading!
