A good old-style dictionary, and pretty comprehensive, if not exactly up-to-the-minute; but where Haq's dicitonary really suffers is in the printing. Many pages are badly printed to the point of being illegible. Even when it's not blurred, the nasta'liq text is frequently printed so small that the non-native reader of Urdu struggles to make out what it actually is. A bilingual dictionary should be as accessible to the foreign learner as to the native speaker, and this is where Haq falls down. However, the wide coverage of vocabulary still makes this the most used English-Urdu dictionary in my (admittedly small) collection.
