Reader Reviews:Not for the faint-hearted... (6/8 people found this helpful)This is an incredibly detailed account of the development of Europe since 1870. In his book, Joll skips from one country to another in the space of a few lines, making detailed comparisons along the way. However, this can make the text hard to follow and it is certainly not a book for the faint-hearted - long, complex sentence after long, complex sentence does not make for a light read! Nevertheless, as a reference work this comes highly recommended. saves you before the exam (5/6 people found this helpful)This is an excellent book - I use it whenevr I need to make sure I know at least something about a topic I'll be discussing, writing about or whatever...
