I bought this book so that I could attempt to bake my first party cake for my son's 1st birthday. It is a nice, compact, hardcover book with various cake recipes that can be used for each cake.
There are a number of good ideas, that I'm sure a beginner could cope with easily. My only complaint is that the ingredient quantities are all measured in cups, and I do prefer Grams or Ounces. The sweets used for decorations were also American, which could leave you searching for local equivalents.
Overall it isn't a bad book, provided you don't mind working in cups instead of ounces.
