Editorial Review:Jez Alborough has a talent for telling a tall tale or two; in Fix-it Duck he surpasses himself. Enter one rather ridiculous--and, frankly, not very bright--duck on a mission to fix a leaky roof. What follows is a gloriously farcical farmyard adventure that will have tots and adults giggling merrily. Fabulously bright, detailed illustrations capture the mood of the humourous text beautifully, making this divinely comic picture book for the very young an absolute must-read for everyone who has ever tried their hand at a little DIY. (Ages 2 and over.) --Susan Harrison Reader Reviews:A story within a story,,entertaining both for child and adult (0/0 people found this helpful)The first book in the series which we bought for our son.I cannot emphasise the hours of enjoyment so far from this one book alone. It lends itself to much pantomime..and we concentrate on different aspects of the story,( naming all the duck's tools is a particular favourite for our 21mth old son , at the moment), without necessarily reading the text 'verbatim'. There are so many 'mini- stories' within the story, which you can adapt to suit different situations at home.. A fantastic book, which holds a child's concentration...Their first "novel", in effect.A great discovery in children's literature. Brilliant book for children and adults to enjoy together (0/0 people found this helpful)One of the best books I have read with my daughter in ages.
Fix-it duck (1/1 people found this helpful)This is one of the few children's stories that I love reading as much as my children. Every adult who's picked this up in our house has laughed out loud at the ending - the twist in the tale makes it extra amusing, but the combination of a funny story, excellent illustrations and the opportunity for even very young children to remember some of the lines makes this one of our favourite books. Highly recommended. funny duck (2/3 people found this helpful)My kids love this book and it's a real joy to read. Gets a laugh everytime! Grandmas please note (4/4 people found this helpful)This was the first Jez Alborough title we bought for our younger granddaughter, who was about 18 months at the time. She loved the story, the rhythm of the words, and the wonderful illustrations. It was her favourite book for a long time and wanted it reading so often that she soon knew the words by heart.
