Really tasty, and simple! (1/1 people found this helpful)

I love this book. I bought it a couple of months ago and have cooked many of the recipes, and the results have been delicious. I do a lot of cooking anyway, sometimes quite elaborate stuff, but I was amazed how tasty these dishes turn out considering how simple they are. I often make 2 or 3 different dishes from the book for one meal.
My one criticism would be that some of the quantities seem a little unusual - olive oil is measured in fractions of "cups", for example, and salt and lemon juice tend to be specified at equally excessive amounts - but it does say that the recipes are not carved in stone and to feel free to modify them to your own tastes. I approach them with an open mind and use quantities that I'm happy with, and they work great.
This is also a great book for vegans as the majority of the recipes do not involve any dairy or eggs.

Absolutely delightful! (6/8 people found this helpful)

"From The Tables of Lebanon" is an absolute culinary delight. Every recipe is authentic. Every recipe is delicious! My husband and I loved this vegetarian book and use its recipes often. Bravo to both authors!

overall good (9/9 people found this helpful)

I cooked more than 20 recipes from this book and most of them turned well. If you want novel tasting vegetarian recipes buy this book. However if you do not like garlic + olive oil + lemon + salt dressing stay away. The instructions are sometimes incomplete and there are lots of duplicate recipes. However, they end up tasting good.

Wonderful Lebanese cookbook! (17/18 people found this helpful)

Lebanese are known to be very particular about their food. My husband is no exception. He has been thrilled with the food I've prepared using recipes in this book. I'm thrilled, too, because I'm trying to please the family palate and reduce the meat in our diet. I have several other Lebanese cookbooks, but I use this one the most!

Here are some of our favorite recipes from the book:

Sauteed green beans (excellent!) Lebanese rice (excellent no butter version!) Swiss Chard soup Tomatoes with bulgur

Non-Lebanese families and vegetarians will enjoy these easy, clear recipes, too. The recipes yield food that is big on taste, healthy and economical. (No. We do not know the author. :-)
