Reader Reviews:Cracking NN (3/3 people found this helpful)Ratcliffe is an engaging writer and his thorough account goes beyond the formulaic dryness of less successful NNs. There is an elegaic sense of what has been lost as well as the richness of what must be preserved in the region. Ratcliffe is not afraid to make frank attacks at destructive land management and go beyond the mealy-mouthed compromises that haunt our current attitudes to the environment.
