Reader Reviews:German (1/1 people found this helpful)I ordered this visual dictionary 'blind' as it where. i had not seen the product, but when it arrived I found it fantastically useful. It covers so many topics and in great detail. Consulting several areas increase your knowledge of both the definition and the constrctive use within the language. Potentially a magnificent book. (4/4 people found this helpful)This colourful and visually attracive book has the potential to be an extremely powerful language tool,Unfortunately the author fell flat on their face .
Everything you would expect (2/2 people found this helpful)Great pictures. Many interesting words for all situations and circumstances you may find yourself in.
Also very helpful if you are German living in the UK/US (1/1 people found this helpful)This simple dictionary contains vocabulary essentials that you need in your day to day life. Going to the doctor or even more simple going to the supermarket can sometimes be an uneasy experience when you are not exactly sure about what you are looking for or talking about. This illustrated book with its pretty and comprehensive pictures offers great support. Visual learners will find it a whole new and easy way of learning vocabulary. Its ~6000 words and phrases limit the book to essentials, but I would even dare to recommend it to tourists who want to learn a few more words in the one or the other language. A downside for beginners: it does not explain pronounciation or speech rhythm. Seeing is believing! (2/2 people found this helpful)It's a simple but effective idea. Each page has a theme (eg. office, school, food), pictures of items relating to this theme, and both the English and German words for the items. It doesn't do the grammar just the vocabulary, but as such it is an excellent way of broadening your knowledge. It is good for visual learners. And has the advantage when it comes to culture-specific nouns: a picture can better illustrate what a Schnitzel is or what a German post office looks like than a description can.
