I bought this for my Mum for Christmas because she is adores her Aga. I weakened though and I've already given it to her. She absolutely loves it. The book is an object of beauty, in common with all Persephone's editions and Edward Bawden's illustrations are charming. The recipes are sensibly divided up into months of the year and according to my Mum are 'jolly good' despite - or perhaps because - they were devised in the 1930s. Perhaps the best thing about this book though is the language - my Mum is delighted by its wit, sophistication and irony. Very warmly recommended to anyone interested in cooking and clever writing, whether they own an Aga or not.
