A bit of a let down (0/0 people found this helpful)

It starts off really well with very funny lines and then drags on a bit.

I love Good Omens (0/0 people found this helpful)

When I first came across this book I read it because I had enjoyed Terry Pratchetts Discworld series. I found it a little too funny, since I do most of my reading on the bus or in public and kept laughing out loud, but the embarrassment was worth it. I have insisted my friends read it and have actually missed this book while I had lent it to them. Good Omens was also my introduction to Neil Gaiman whose books I have also loved and I think that this book is the perfect blend of the two authors. Everyone I know has found it hilarious, even those who I didn't think would. It is a fantastic read and I wish I could find fault with it

A pleasant read, but left me feeling slightly empty (0/0 people found this helpful)

If you like Discworld, you'll probably like this. Not as madcap as the Discworld series but pretty loony all the same. There is definitely a serious message or several in there, but I was enjoying the story too much to stop and anal-ise it! My only gripe is that there's not enough absolute doom in the book for a hardened cynic.... well, that and the fact the book kind of fizzzzzzzzlllllsss ou.....

A Classic (0/0 people found this helpful)

Neil Gaiman writes excellent books. Terry Pratchett writes excellent books. Both have very different styles and one would wonder, given that writing partnerships are quite difficult to pull off, whether this one is going to work. Trust me, it really does.

I first read this book when I was in my teens and it has remained one of my favourite books ever since. It never fails to make me laugh. I have re-read it myriad times, and now I only have to think of things like the M25 being an evil sigil of doom, or the fact that any tape left in a car long enough morphs into a Best of Queen collection and it makes me smile.

This book is about the Witch Finder General and about the End of the World, and is hilarious and brilliant and well worth getting to add to your bookshelf. You won't be sorry you did.

Pure brilliance and laugh out loud funny. (0/0 people found this helpful)

So . . . crossing Pratchett with Gaiman was probably the best idea that ever was had. Having never been a Pratchett fan (but still admiring his work and amazing imagination) but an avid Gaiman one (you must read American Gods, Neverwhere and Stardust . . .which is way better than the film) i really wanted to give this book a go and i was not dissappointed.

The characters are loveable and entertaining with their own little quirks. The plot is slightly convoluted which keeps you entertained, and the style of writing changes according to which character is being told.

Some of the reviews call this book juvenile (probably as parts of it are written from the point of an 11 year old boy so what would you expect?) and the jokes not funny. Thats fair enough but they made me really laugh out loud so that my son was desperate to be in on the joke.

This is interesting, imaginative and just plain good fun as well has giving you food for thought so that you are left pondering some of its meanings for days afterwards.

I have recommended this book to all of my friends and i recommend it too, i am sure you will enjoy it as much as everyone here who has given it a rave review.
