Reader Reviews:Everything for the pop music fan (0/0 people found this helpful)This book is seriously great value for money. In the year since I bought it I've actually started to panic if I've ever forgotten where I left it. It may not be the sort of book you could read from cover to cover but it doesn't need to be. As well as setting and winning music quizzes you can spend hours and hours just looking up references to songs and artists. The only (very minor) drawback is that while it lists the first hundred of the top five hundred artists there isn't a complete list, but - of course - you can always make one up yourself. I don't think there's anything to criticise in a serious way and I know I'll never stop finding uses for it. THE TRUE BIBLE OF POP (0/0 people found this helpful)I use this book on daily basis and this is my 7th issue (i ordered the17th issue recently). Every year (or two years for older issues) bringsmore pages, more fun facts, charts and photos. Also, every issue hides newsurprises and some dissapointments. If you are into UK charts or justmusic in general, this is a must have, especially nowadays when peoplejust love to build up their personal collection of singles (forgetofficial greatest hits collections). No other chart in the world featuresmore songs per artist and no other chart features so many football teams, dolls, cartoon people or comedians and other novelty acts. If you can'tremember a certain song by a certain artist, you'll need this. Bible. (7/8 people found this helpful)This book is an absolute must. Just by browsing the pages will prod your memory into remembering tracks that you had forgot you had forgotten. On top of this it is an authorative and entertaining piece of referance literature. If you are remotely interested in music from the 1950's right upto date then this is the book you need. The best way to revise for pop quizzes! (4/5 people found this helpful)The definitive collection of all chart hits from 1952 to the present day compiled both in artist and title orders for easy reference. This book, revised every two years by eminent pop masters like Paul Gambaccini and Tim Rice, contains important listings such as 'top 50 greatest all time acts' and 'one hit wonders'. The book goes into far more detail than that, allowing the reader to look up any top 75 UK chart hit and see substantial information about it. This book makes a fab present... The book is an encyclopaedia of hits, artists and popular music and contains many interesting facts. It even gives you the story behind the songs and charts the success of some of my favourite pop stars. Working in the music industry means that I need to be really up to date with all types of music and release dates. The book is easy to read and full of interesting facts.
