Hair: A Book of Braiding and Styles (inc. 3 'Scrunchies' and Accessory Box)

I bought this book to learn how to put French plaits in my daughter's hair for a gymnastics competition. The whole idea filled me with dread as I had never attempted to do them before, but by just following a few simple steps, I was able to create the most impressive results. I would highly recommend this book to any mum who needs to learn the technique.

I was able to do many different braids and hairstyles on other peoples hair but not my own.

I've only had this book for a week and I've already successfully created the rope braid, French braid, French rope braid and others all by myself on my own mid back length hair.

Some of the twist styles aren't great for longer hair but it helps the imagination to get going! The scrunchies are nice. I don't really like the beaded one though; it looks like it would eat my hair too much!!

There is only 1 problem with this book.
I wish there was more. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty there to kept me busy for a long time but I love learning new styles and techniques. I recommend this to anyone who wishes to learn how to do beautiful styles! And it's great for the complete beginner too!

The three scrunchies that came provided with this book are a delightful bonus. I especially like the beaded one.

The book is fairly comprehensive and details more complex styles as well as basic buns and braids and twists. All the styles look beautiful and classical.

However, it is more suitable to those with thick hair as some of these styles will possibly not work with very fine, thin hair except perhaps with an added hairpiece. This then could be a major drawback to those with this type of hair.

If however you are blessed with thick, glorious locks then the styles have no boundaries, it's just a question of practice making perfect.

Some styles are seen around everyday, whilst there are others I've never seen before and will be definite head turners.

If you are stuck with ideas for dressing up your long hair then this is the book for you.

Nicely bound, the instructions look quite easy to follow and all the models are beautiful.

with this book i managed a french braid on myself with the first attempt.
is incredibly easy to follow and gives instructions for doing it on yourself and other peoples. this book is the definitive starting point! once you have mastered it you can move on to more complex techniques like french braids with five strands!

however i would recomend getting the french braid done as habit before learning the dutch or inside out braid as it is easier and if you learn it first it will take ages to get the hang of french.
also the french braid technique is not the best around but is a great starting point.
this book can show any idiot like me how to braid. it's so easy when you know how!

This book is fantastic. I struggled for 10 years trying to laearn to french plait and now I can do it (I've only had the book two days!). The instructions and pictures are very clear and easy to follow and understand. The freee scrunchies are nice, particularly the beaded one. I love my hair again!
