This book is just plain brilliant! It is bright, colourful and the pictures are just fantastic. Every double page is a picture on one page and four short lines on the other. Each four lines are one stanza or verse of a long rhyme or poem. This book is all about dogs but it is a fiction story for children aged 3 - 6. I would rate this book 7/10.
I really like the cover a lot and actually, I think that the cover is the best part of it all. The title and the author are in this oval sort of shape; the page has a yellowish border; and to finish it there is a picture of a dog (Hairy Maclary) with his big, tasty bone in his mouth! This book is part of the `Hairy Maclary' series, which is about him and his canine companions. I liked this book and I would rate it 8/ 10 because it is lovely but not the thing I would really read at my age - it's better for my 5 year old brother.

Hairy MacLary has a bone which other dogs desire. He goes under, over, through etc etc to shake off his competitors.

Excellent - my 22-month-old loves it. What better recommendation could you have?
