As always,New Zealander, Lynley Dodd, excells herself as both children's author and illustrator. In this fantastic read together compilation, these five brilliant stories about Hairy Maclary will provide hours of enjoyable shared reading for, be it between adult and child or child and child (my grandchildren love reading the books out loud with each other) - Lynley's written word sings and her drawings dance across the pages of your imagination!

We purchased the Hairy Maclary books for our young grandson (now a teenager) and even before he could speak properly he recited the contents of the first book - in gobbledegook - at the kitchen table. His expression as he arrived at the part where the dogs encounter Scarface Claw was unforgettable. We've now purchased the series for our younger grandson and hope that he will find them equally enjoyable.

Fantastic value for money. The best stories for bedtime ever.. My four year old adores Rumpus at the Vets, and now I do too. The rhyming flows really nicely and works well and the illustrations are beautiful. Bring on Bottomley Potts and Schnitzel Von Krumm (with the very low tum)

Myself, my husband and my son all love this book! It's a morning, afternoon and bedtime favourite!
The hard back is great and I wish there were more sets of 5 Hairy Maclary / Slinky Malinky hard backs.

After reading the reviews I thought let me give it a try. My three year old and 23mth old boys both love it! They love the rhymes and the different types of dogs. My three yr old can even tell you the next rhyming word after only a wk reading the stories to them. Its a bed-time treat. I would reccomend it to anyone with babies and toddlers. Its absolutely adorable! I plan to purchase more from this series for my kids later on.
